COMMUNITY OUTREACH NEWS!

USED GREETING CARD COLLECTION - Let's keep those cards from getting a one time use and then being tossed away. There are several organizations that keep used greeting cards in their craft supplies. They are recycled and repurposed into other things like new cards, decorated garlands, posters and other craft projects. They can be any type of card, thank you, birthday, holiday etc. I will take the whole card, not just the front. Cut out any personal message, if you want to, first. I will also accept unused cards you no longer need. Place cards in bin by the main office starting Tues., Jan 17 through March 8th.

PLANO FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAM - this is part of PISD and it's purpose is to teach low-income families English, reading, and parenting skills. This is done in a classroom structure for both adults and their children. At the end of the school year, each family is given a Summer Bag filled with activities the families can to do together or to help siblings interact together.
I am asking the Robinson families to help fill the bags for the families of this program. Please bring in one of the items on the list:
  • New items - crayons, markers, drawing pads, activity books, coloring books, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, jump ropes, bouncy balls, card games(any ages), craft kits, splash balls. The Dollar Store is a great place to get these items.
  • Gently used items: reading books (any ages), stickers

Thank you for all you kindness and generosity toward helping other families.

Box Tops Collection Week is February 6th-10th, so start clipping those box tops now!  Look through your pantry and refrigerator for the white and pink Box Tops coupons.  Simply cut them out and send them in with your students.  Popular brands include Pillsbury, Ziploc, Hefty, Yoplait, plus many others!  Robinson will receive 10 cents for each Box Tops coupon collected. For questions, please contact boxtops@robinsonpta.org

Stage 3 Water Conservation Measures Now in Effect

Stage 3 conservation measures began November 1 and the City of Plano and north Texas area needs your help to conserve water as the drought continues and lake levels fall to extremely low levels. Every drop counts to ensure we have necessary water supplies for the future.

Beginning Tuesday, November 1 watering will be restricted to once every other week so please turn your time sprinkler system timers off and operate them manually if needed. Lawn grasses go dormant during the fall and winter season. They will naturally go brown and do not need water. The watering schedule by address is:

  • Even address number: Every Other Thursday beginning Nov. 3
  • Odd address number Every Other Tuesday beginning Nov. 8
  • Watering is prohibited between 10:00am-6:00pm
